Increased Gaming Notebook Saturation Good for Consumers
The days where laptops for gaming were a niche market are disappearing very quick. As I remember they were not really the greatest selling notebooks but as they were the most costly they were the foremost revenue producing laptops. They were the type of notebook computer everyone wished for but the one they just were unable to purchase. Simply they were the best laptop computers available for purchase. I know we all got excited about them but the masses would highly unlikely buy laptop computers that were so costly. Well established manufacturers have lately introduced their own gaming notebooks so its all changing as we speak.
These laptops have a certain price point and these manufacturers know they don’t have to be price aggressively here. As the profit potential on mainstream notebooks have gotten so tiny, creating specialized laptops for gaming is one plan to regain a larger gross markup. Companies of that class know they can sway buyers to buy laptop computers at ridiculous providing they represent it well. Do the smaller players really stand a chance with this kinda competition? Now gaming portables will no longer be perceived as a niche market. I guess the ignorant automatically feel at ease by purchasing from a brand they know.
With that these systems are also perceived to be the best laptop computers already, even if they really are not. I reckon this would still be the ray of hope for smaller resellers though. Now and again the littler retailers will provide the newest components quicker and so offer higher configurations as well. Consumers that buy high performance laptop computers can generally see past the frills. The details are important for this type of buyer.
For the customer, this has plenty of benefits. Better technology will be increasingly purchasable in the future for many customers as it will act to drive margins down further. Who is to envisage what will happen. I’m actually not that sure. Technology is always advancing and the latest notebooks should usually be expensive when it just comes out. The multinational manufacturers have already entered the gaming laptop computers sector so we’ll have to be patient and see what occurs I guess.
